Taonga Ukura™ collection

'Nguru’ are cross blown instruments modeled from a sperm whale tooth, niho paraoa, or the top of a gourd, hue, with two ends that are blown to produce sound, either with the nostril on one or the mouth on the other. The mouth blown end is sonorous able to convey vowel sounds for communicating long distance. The nostril blown smaller end is for the sweeter serenade.
